Your online security is of the highest importance to us, and the services and the tips found in these pages can help you protect your identity and your credit.

Transaction Security

Regardless of whether you are using Stanford FCU Online Banking, applying for a loan, or submitting an online form, your information is encrypted using Secure Socket Layer Technology (SSL). With SSL encryption your information is protected between your computer to Stanford FCU.

When you perform address information changes within Online Banking, we will send a confirmation letter. When you perform a transaction within Online Banking we provide a confirmation online and real-time. If you ever receive a confirmation email for a transaction or change that you did not authorize, please contact us immediately.

Computer Security

In addition to the systematic precautions that we have taken to ensure information security, it is important that you maintain security of your computer so that others cannot access your personal and financial information.

If you are using Stanford FCU Online Banking in a public place, remember to logout when you finish by clicking “Logout”. Any future transactions will then require all credentials again.

For added security, then after logging out you take a few minutes to clear the browser disk and memory cache (or Internet History for IE users) and exit all instances of the browser.

Security Tips

Your Stanford FCU debit and credit cards are the go-to cards for purchases, easy access to cash and much more! Here are some security tips to help keep you and your money safe while using your cards:

  • Treat your card like cash and keep it in a secure location.
  • Do not write your Personal Identification Number (PIN) on your card or keep it with your card.
  • Don’t lend your card or give your PIN to anyone—not even a Stanford FCU employee.
  • Use an ATM in a well-lighted location that is free of shrubbery and decorative partitions.
  • Prepare paperwork prior to arriving at the ATM.
  • Always shield the ATM keypad, so that anyone waiting to use the ATM cannot see you enter your PIN.
  • Never count cash at the machine. Wait until you are in a secure place.
  • If you are involved in a confrontation with an assailant who demands your money, comply.
  • Never let your card out of your sight, even while a transaction is being recorded.
  • Always check the total of each transaction before you sign the sales slip and never sign one without a dollar amount.
  • Shred your sales draft receipts before discarding them. Request that the merchant does the same.
  • Be sure to record all transactions in your checking account register.
  • Check your monthly statement for accuracy and/or suspicious charges.
  • Keep records of all of your cards, including the contact information for each issuer.
  • Report lost or stolen cards IMMEDIATELY. If stolen, notify the police department, as well.
