History of Stanford Federal Credit Union

Stanford Federal Credit Union has been working for its members since 1959. From its inception with a group of Stanford employees, the staff at our credit union has always focused on the most important aspect of banking – its members. We believe finances should not only be about saving money, it should be about helping people establish, improve, and maintain their financial health.

How We’ve Evolved Over the Years

Stanford Federal Credit Union has greatly evolved over the years. We’ve gone from being a small financial institution in which Stanford members could simply save money to a large financial institution that surrounds our members’ lives. We’re now a $2 billion full-service financial institution, just shy of 60,000 members. Most of our members are Stanford University faculty, staff, students, volunteers, and alumni. We also have members from Stanford Health Care, Stanford Children’s Health, SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, and from over 100 local notable companies such as Google, Facebook, Genentech, SAP, and VMware.

Our success is due to the understanding that as the financial world evolves, we must evolve with it. It’s why we’ve added online and mobile banking to our services. This convenience provides members with access and control to all of their accounts with us, so they can make their money work for them.

For over 55 years, we’ve helped members DO MORE and BANK LESS. Our team of financial experts provide members with the knowledge and services to shape their financial future into whatever they envision. We always put our members first and go above and beyond to ensure they are satisfied with our services.
