How does Pay A Friend work?

Stanford FCU’s FREE Pay a Friend is available in Online and Mobile Banking under Payments & Transfers > Pay a Friend. It’s similar to Zelle and Venmo, in that it allows you to send money from your Stanford FCU account to other people (your friends don’t need a Stanford FCU account).

Pay a Friend payments are processed as PIN-based debit card transactions, so you will use the PIN for your debit card that’s tied to your Stanford FCU checking account.

The payment will be debited from your account immediately. When your friend receives the Pay A Friend notification, he must enter his routing number and checking account number. The money will be credited to his account within 1-2 business days, and the recipient has 10 days to collect the money. If the money is not collected in 10 days, you will be notified and the funds will be credited back to your account within 1-2 business days.

When you view the transactions in your account history or on a Statement, the transactions will appear as SFCU PAY A FRIEND POS PURCHASE or ACCULYNK PAYZUR P2P PAY. Text notifications will come from 678.264.6407.

The money is sent securely using an email address or mobile number, and you don’t share your account number with anyone. Pay a Friend payments are processed and protected in the same manner as PIN-based point of sale debit card transactions.
