How does BillPayer work?
Payments made through the BillPayer service are processed in one of three ways. Payment processing is handled electronically, so you cannot specify how payments are processed. The following will explain how the Processing Center handles payments:
The BillPayer system will first look for an "electronic" process to pay items. If the merchant you are paying is equipped for that purpose, your payment will be processed electronically and appear as ACH on your account statement.
Depending upon the dollar amount of the item, it may be paid as "ACH" on your account; however, the merchant will receive a "check" drawn on the BillPayer account in your behalf.
The last method of paying processing through the BillPayer system is a "check" drawn on your account with the Credit Union. In this case, there will be a 6-digit check number that will begin with "99xxxx". This process will not reflect whom you paid. It also may not pay on the date specified.

How do I access BillPayer?
You can access BillPayer from the link found at the CUOnline welcome page. You must "register" before you can access the service. But don't worry, registering for the BillPayer service is easy, and it's all done on-line in just a few minutes!
You will choose and enter your own USER ID and PASSWORD. It is important to remember your User ID and Password because you will need them each time you access your BillPayer account. (Remember, these fields are "case sensitive", so you will need to type in your User ID and Password EXACTLY the same way as what you registered.)

You will use your User ID and Password, along with your account number to verify your identity each time you access your BillPayer account. BillPayer will always ask you to authorize each payment, as a final step before the payment is submitted. And, you will receive confirmation for each payment that is made using the service.

Why does my web browser need to support 128-bit encryption?
128-bit encryption offers the highest level of security for your BillPayer transactions. In fact, 128-bit encryption is also "military level" encryption, and our Federal Government only allows a few countries to use Web browsers with this capability.

Can I have BillPayer debit my savings account?
By federal regulation, your savings account is classified as a non-transactional account. This means that your savings account can only have a limited number of unsigned transactions per month. As a result, your savings account can not be used in conjunction with BillPayer.
-
How much time should I allow to pay my bills?
- Since payees vary in the amount of time they take to post payments, payment dates are required to be set four to five business days in advance of the actual due date. If you use the late date or a date in your grace period as a scheduled date, the payment will not make it to the payee on time. Payments that are not scheduled at least four business days in advance of the payment due date will not be covered under any BillPayer guarantees.
-
Why do I have to schedule payments so far in advance?
- Some payees do not have the ability to accept payments electronically. As a result, a physical check must be issued and mailed. Scheduling your payments four to five business days in advance allows adequate time for payments to be received and processed.
-
When does the money come out of my account?
- The date you select is the date that funds will be deducted from your account. It is also the date that your payee should receive your payment. Remember, if a check is drawn on your Credit Union account directly, it normally will not be deducted on the date you specify.
-
What are recurring payments?
- Recurring payments are used when the amount, date and frequency that you pay a particular payee remain the same. BillPayer will send your recurring payments automatically at the frequency you specify.
-
What are variable payments?
- Variable payments are used when the amount, date and frequency that you pay a particular payee may change. For variable payments, you must schedule and confirm each payment you wish to authorize. You can always schedule a variable payment to any payee, even if the payee is already set up on a recurring schedule.
-
Why was my account deactivated/cancelled?
- Although we are providing BillPayer as a free service, fees are still incurred for every registered user. Implementing periodic account maintenance and cleaning up inactive accounts is necessary for us to save our membership money. If an account shows no activity for 90 days, it will be deactivated/cancelled. Payees that may have been entered into the BillPayer system will also be deleted.
-
Can I sign up for BillPayer after my account is deactivated/cancelled?
- Yes. BillPayer is a free service, so you can always re-apply at any time.
-
What is my e-bill service address?
- E-Bill Service Address is the address where the you receive the service for which you are being e-billed. This may be, for example, a second residence or rental property and, therefore, different than the address we have on record (typically your mailing address). This will appear on the bottom half of the Payees screen and will be a required field, although the pre-populated default is your mailing address we have on record.
