Who Can Join SFCU

If you're a member of the Stanford Community, then you can and should become an SFCU member.

Who's included in the SFCU Field of Membership?

In addition to the Stanford Community, our Field of Membership extends to employees, members, and volunteers of the companies that are members of the Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce and Friends of Palo Alto Libraries (FOPAL), Museum of American Heritage (MOAH), and those organizations that are located on Stanford lands (including Research Park and the Stanford Shopping Center), as long as the company has signed a simple, no-cost sponsorship agreement with us.

Does my company offer SFCU membership to employees?

Check out the list of Qualifying Companies to see if you're eligible. If your employer is not on the list, all is not lost! Just give us a call or visit any of our branches, and a Member Service Representative will go over your eligibility options. You can also have your employer's benefits coordinator contact SFCU's Business Development Team at (650) 842-6029 or bd@sfcu.org, to discuss a no-cost SFCU sponsorship that will enable you and your co-workers to enroll.

Once you join SFCU, you're a member for life. "Once a Member, always a Member," we say. So, it doesn't matter if you've already graduated from Stanford, or if you no longer work for a qualifying company - you'll always be welcome at SFCU!

Unable to find how you are eligible?

If you do not fall within our regular field of membership, you can join the Museum of American Heritage (MOAH) or Friends of Palo Alto Libraries (FOPAL) in order to become a member of Stanford Federal Credit Union.

  • Low, one-time only fee.
  • Membership is open to anyone.
  • Support non-profit local organizations that support the Palo Alto community.
  • You do not have to retain your MOAH or FOPAL membership to stay a member of Stanford Federal Credit Union.
  • Start your MOAH or FOPAL membership by visiting their website or join at any Stanford FCU branch when you open your account!
