Stanford Federal Credit Union has been serving the Stanford community's financial needs for over forty years. SFCU has partnered with NELNET to provide "Private" education loans tailored to meet each student's needs. As a credit union member, students receive excellent benefits, including:

Student Benefits

  • We will waive the last 5 payments on a given loan
  • An option to waive 2 additional payments
  • Loan amounts from $1000 to &100,000 (aggregate maximum)
  • Repayment terms of up to 20 years for loans under 40K and up to 25 years for loan over 40K
  • Stanford Federal Credit Union loans are serviced for life at NELNET
  • SFCU is a local financial institution with three locations on campus. We can provide all types of financial solutions to meet varying student needs
  • SFCU has other non-educational unsecured loans to supplement our other education loan programs for expenses beyond the traditional cost of education

Applying for an SFCU Student Loan is simple:

  • Pick up your Stafford, or PLUS application at the Financial Aid Office of the school you will be attending.
  • Our Federal ID with the Department of Education is - 830772.
  • As instructed, complete and return your application to the Financial Aid Office, which certifies your eligibility for financial aid.

Once the certified application is received from the Financial Aid Office, your application will be processed in a timely manner and funds will be disbursed as instructed by the Financial Aid Office of your school.

Student Loan Consolidation Program

Just imagine having one low payment at one low rate! Now with SFCU's Student Loan Consolidation Program, you can combine multiple student loans into one loan and lock in a low interest rate.

Joining the Stanford Federal Credit Union is easy and fast. A one-time membership fee of $5 and a small deposit of $50 or more to an account is all it takes. Please click here to establish your membership.

Ford Direct Loan Program), Direct PLUS Loans, Direct Consolidation Loans, Perkins Loans (formerly NDSL), Federal Insured Student Loans (FISL), Health Professions Student Loans (HPSL), Nursing Student Loans (NSL), and Health Education Assistance Loans (HEAL).
