Business FAQs

What is sponsorship? Return to Top
Sponsoring SFCU means establishing a no-cost relationship between your organization and ours for the explicit reason of providing Credit Union financial services to your employees.
Who can I contact to discuss offering SFCU membership to our employees? Return to Top
Please contact us at (650) 842-6029 or via email at bd@sfcu.org.
How will my employees benefit? Return to Top
Low loan rates, high savings yields, checking account packages that feature a non-SFCU ATM surcharge reimbursement program, mortgage lending in & out of California, free online and wireless banking, instant online loan approvals, free educational seminars (at your facility, too!), Stock Market-style investment certificates with guaranteed principal, and much more!
Is my company eligible for a no-cost sponsorship? Return to Top
The answer is 'yes' as long as you can answer 'yes' to either of the following criteria:
  • Is your company a current member of the Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce?
  • Does your company conduct business on Stanford-owned land?
What about our employees in Anytown, USA; are they eligible to join, too? Return to Top
If your company is a current member of the Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce, or if its payroll department is located on Stanford-owned land, then yes! Thanks to our accomplished remote services, we are very capable of serving the financial needs of folks living way, way outside of Palo Alto. In fact, we serve many members who live abroad!
What's the catch? Return to Top
Well, none! There's no cost, and no strings attached.
How do we join? Return to Top
Getting started is really very simple. Once your company's eligibility has been determined, all you need to do is sign a short agreement that gives your company the right to offer our services to its employees, to designate a liaison within your organization, and (even though it almost never happens) to terminate the relationship at any time.
Who else has chosen to sponsor SFCU? Return to Top
Too many to name here! Click here for a list of our sponsors.
What's the difference between SFCU and a bank? Return to Top
The significant difference between credit unions and banks is that credit unions are chartered to be not-for-profit. Banks are "for profit" organizations. As a not-for-profit entity, SFCU enjoys the ability to return earnings, beyond overhead and regulatory reserves, to our members in the form of lower interest rates on loans and higher dividends on savings products. SFCU also is close to our community, which enhances our ability to offer increasingly improved and convenient services specifically tailored to meet the continuing changing needs of our members.
